A warm cap to knit in three sizes (S/M/L) that will be much appreciated by any family member when the cold winds blow. Simple cable crosses in a vertical pattern create a neat, modern motif that is engaging to knit and delicious to wear. Knit in a round tightly twisted yarn for crisp stitch definition and a snug fit; for a softer texture and fit, work in a relaxed yarn or fiber blend. May be worked with a shorter, single brim (instructions included).

Samples shown are size M (hers) and size L (his) in special edition Kent Aran, color Mussell Shell

Warmest winter hat

When my college age grandson asked for a warm winter hat, I made him this hat in Stone Soup Worsted, and we both loved it. When I blocked the hat, the yarn softened and relaxed, making a warm fabric while still keeping the stitch definition for the cables. No itch for him, and I loved the look of the hat for me as well. I made the full hat for him, and a shorter beanie for my son in law.
